Hello from new Hesperette

Just a quick hello from a brand new Hesperette! Although, my first few weeks here have been mostly taken up trying to get to grips with life in a new office, the time has now arrived to take on the rather daunting task of writing something for the blog.

Firstly, many apologies for the long silence on the blog. As usual, the very valid excuse that we can proffer is that we have been busy producing more beautiful books.  After a few days working solely on a computer screen, one of my great excitements was witnessing my first physical arrival of some of our books into the office.

The recent batch included our new ‘On’ series which I have currently piled up on my desk so that I can admire the effect of the series design. I love the combination of dark front covers with the edible-coloured pastels of the back – sorry that sounds rather strange, suspect I might be hungry.

Each of the books is a collection of a writer’s thoughts on a specific subject. Being new at Hesperus, I am still delighted to discover alternative facets to well-known writers and, for me, the ‘On’ series epitomises this process. I love the idea that I am getting to know Virginia Woolf or John Donne in a different and novel way.

Anyway, having broken the ice and, to some extent, introduced myself, I shall sign off.

More from me later,

Martha

P.S Apologies for the rather bizarre layout, I’m still coming to terms with the artistic side of blogging…

  1. Hi Martha,
I have recently started working at The Bookseller and am keen to meet up with some people from Hesperus, but I can’t find any contact details for you. Please can you email me and perhaps we could arrange a time to meet in the next couple of months?

  2. Hello! Good to see the blog online again. Does this mean the main site’s coming back too?
