… with a brand spanking new blog for Hesperus Press, and I must admit I feel a little nervous writing this first post, although I’m sure I’ll find my blogging feet soon.
The decision to start the blog was made in the wake of the London Book Fair, which ended – to the delight of aching feet unaccustomed to teetering heels - yesterday. We hear there are all manner of exciting goings on in the blogosphere, so, loath to be left out, we’re rolling up our sleeves and mucking in.

Aside from post-Book Fair hangovers and a long-overdue makeover of the office, the main news from Hesperus HQ today is that our Autumn catalogues and April titles have arrived. It’s always exciting when boxes arrive and everyone is able to see the fruits of their labours, and this month we’ve been particularly pleased with the new Virginia Woolf title The Platform of Time, which is a really beautiful volume, if we do say so ourselves! I really love this cover, so, if I’ve mastered the technology (and that’s a big if), there should be a sneaky peak floating around somewhere on the page…
The catalogue is also looking pretty swish, thanks in no small part to the cover design from our new Brief Lives series. Each book in the series is a short, lively biography of an eminent literary figure and we’ve commissioned original artwork for the covers. Again, somewhere in the ether of this still-unfathomable blogosphere, there should be a sneak preview of the Oscar Wilde artwork, which adorns the catalogue.
I’m typing from a scene of absolute chaos as the office is being moved around, so, before I’m hit by a flying pot plant or submerged underneath a landslide of papers, I’ll sign off, but promise to update soon.
Ellie Robins, Hesperus Press.
